When searching for a new product to utilize with your rifle or other guns, do you look for a long history of tried and true products and continuous innovation within the industry?

If you value the brand and its history, then there is no further you should look than Burris Optics.

Burris Company Overview

The Burris Company was founded by an industry veteran who believed he could create a better product than what was already available on the market. With a long history in the industry and a leading reputation, Burris has been around for quite a while, making all sorts of optics that are utilized by police, military, and regular enthusiasts as well.

Where Did Burris Start?

Burris was started in Denver, Colorado, by a man with a vision and some prior experience making rifle sights for another company. He took his experience and used it to create precision optics, coming up with some of the better innovations that are still currently in use.

When Did Burris Start?

Burris was founded in 1971 before manufacturing optics was anything more than a tiny niche in the market. In time, Burris became one of the industry’s best-known names around.

In 2002, the company was purchased and became one of the companies under the Beretta family of gun product manufacturers. However, they continued to operate as Burris Optics and to this day innovate new products for enthusiasts.

Check out this video for a great overview of their thermal line products available today:

Where Does Burris Make Its Products?

Now, Burris does all of the testing and inspections in the United States, manufacturing some of its products here too. Since Beretta has become its manufacturer, the main assembly and production of the Burris optics product occur in the Philippines.

This is mainly a result of the purchase by Beretta, as they do not assemble all of their products in the United States and contract much of the work out internationally.

Does Burris Offer a Warranty?

Yes, Burris sells every product covered by a no-questions forever warranty, except the Burris Thermal scopes line of products. For the thermal scope lines, they offer a limited lifetime warranty covering the materials and the manufacturing against any defects.

That said, either of the warranty options will be voided if you misuse or otherwise damage the scope in a manner not aligned with the intended purpose.

Where Can You Buy Burris Scopes?

You can buy Burris products from their website and several other online retailers, like Optics Planet or Midway USA. These thermal scopes are also offered at large chain retailers, Walmart, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Bass Pro Shops. And you can find them at various selected local gun retailers depending on the preference of the store owner or operator.

Are Burris Products Worth It?

Burris Products are tried and true, with a long history of success and innovation. They are not the cheapest optics you can purchase, though the thermal scopes have a fairly reasonable price, striving to provide more value for your money in their products. (1)

They offer a fantastic no-questions-asked guarantee on most of the products they manufacture, but if you want a product you can be sure was made in the United States, you might want to look elsewhere. However, if you want a well-tested, moderately priced product with a reputation, choose Burris.

  1. I mostly use my savage for coyote hunting now it’s an over & under 223 / 12 ga with a Burris 1x6x42 with a nice red dot I can turn on in the reticle. This yr I’m not allowed to hunt fall turkey with a rifle ( new law ) I love the scope but do I go for a clip on or a new thermal scope ? I love Burris customer service I know thermals are newer for them. Or would you go for a day / thermal scope I know Burris does not make one.
